Dennis has played music from a young age, thanks to his parents, who enrolled him in piano, trumpet, saxophone, and voice lessons. This early exposure helped foster a love for music that continues until the present. Dennis currently resides in Ottawa, where he just completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) at Carleton University. His jazz ensembles are the official representatives of the Music program at the university and perform regularly at Carleton's commencements, Dean's List celebrations, retirement parties, and similar functions. Along with Dennis' focus on jazz studies, he is always searching for new collaborators and tirelessly working on successful projects with local dance choreographers and singer-songwriters, among others.
Dennis has performed with the likes of Kellylee Evans, the Bytowne Big Band, the Estonian National Male Chorus, the Divertimento Orchestra, Mark Ferguson's Carleton Jazz Ensemble, Wayne Eagles' Fusion Ensemble, John Lamb, John Geggie, Dominic Mancini, and Tommy Goodman, to name just a few. Dennis' influences include diverse artists such as Snarky Puppy, Duke Ellington, Gregory Porter, Bob Reynolds, Vulfpeck, and Hans Zimmer.
Currently, Dennis is working on an improvised contemporary dance performance with a local choreographer, learning a new instrument in the newly formed Ottawa Transpacific Orchestra, and contributing to the chamber pop/shoegaze group Greathunter.
